Manhattan bar renamed ‘Daniel Murphy’s’ throughout World Series
New York Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy has been crushing the ball at a historic rate this postseason. It’s no secret he has been the catalyst for the club’s run to the World Series.
Now a New York bar is paying tribute to his historic achievements by renaming itself in his honor during the World Series, which begins Tuesday (8:07 p.m., Fox) in Kansas City, Mo. Foley’s Pub and Restaurant on 33rd Street will be called “Daniel Murphy’s.”

Murphy has hit a Mets record seven home runs in the postseason, including one in six consecutive games to set a new MLB record. He has reached base safely in 18 of his 39 plate appearances, with 16 hits. He’s hitting .421/.436/1.462 in the playoffs.
Murphy has been so clutch in the postseason, he has hit half as many home runs since the playoffs started as he hit in 499 regular-season at-bats. His 14 regular-season home runs were a career high in seven seasons in the big leagues.
“No one in the history of this great sport has accomplished what Daniel Murphy has this postseason,” bar owner Shaun Clancy told SBNation. “Renaming our restaurant after him is a way of tipping our cap to him in honor of his achievements and to the excitement that he has brought to this city.”

Clancy also has a dish on the menu named after Murphy. The “Chicken Murphy” offering features chicken breast, Italian sausage and sliced cherry tomatoes.
