Jaguars score first defensive TD of season … and seconds later, a second
Big defensive plays and the Jacksonville Jaguars have not been synonymous this season.
But the defense has stepped up. arly in their game in London against the Buffalo Bills, Twice.
In the first 377 minutes of the season, the Jaguars had zero defensive touchdowns. In a nine-second span in the second quarter against the Bills, they had two.
What?
On the first touchcdown, Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin came free on a blitz on the first turnover and clocked Bills quarterback EJ Manuel, knocking the ball loose. Defensive end Chris Clemons scooped up the ball and scored — only his second defensive touchdown in his 153rd career game. That made it 14-3, Jaguars.
Then on the first play after the ensuing kickoff, Manuel threw a pick-six to Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith and a stunning 21-3 Jaguars lead.
Then three plays later on 3rd and 16, Paul Posluszny intercepted Manuel. What an onslaught.
That’s three turnovers in a few minutes. The Jaguars had three all season coming in.
Will Manuel be benched? Are the Jaguars this good defensively? London has a way of bringing out the weird in the NFL.
