WR DeAndre Hopkins remains the favorite target no matter who is under center for the Texans as he caught 10 passes for 148 yards and 2 TDs. The running game couldn’t get established (31-95) but Houston stuck with it, like they will this week. The pass defense gave up 331 yards and 3 scores but also picked off 3 passes, returning one for a TD.
Miami got a win for new HC Dan Campbell blowing out Tennessee 38-10. QB Ryan Tannehill was 22-29 for 266 yards, 2 TDs and 2 interceptions. The running game was highly productive, as RB Lamar Miller ran for 113 yards and a TD. As a team, the Dolphins ran for 180 yards. The defense held the Titans to 63 yards on 18 carries. The defense intercepted two passes, recovered two fumbles and had 6 sacks, 4 by DE Cameron Wake. DB Reshad Jones returned one of the picks for a TD. Was this performance just a one-off for a new HC or a sign of the things to come from Miami?

The big difference in last week’s game by the Dolphins was their defense that recorded 6 sacks against the Titans after recording just one in their previous four games. The Texans have given up just 10 sacks on the season but scheduling didn’t have them facing a quality pass rush so far this season. The run defense was also very good for the Dolphins holding Tennessee to 63 yards! Houston has yet to get their running game going finishing five of their six games this season with fewer than 100 rush yards. It could be a long day for Brian Hoyer if Arian Foster can’t get it going today. I’m still not sold on the Miami offense and no way do they get 180 yards on the ground again today. Both of these teams have not be scoring this season before their latest. The Dolphins had scored an average of 16.25 points per game prior to rolling over Tennessee and the Texans had scored 21 or fewer in their first five games before getting 31 points against the turnover prone Jags. Look for both teams to play conservative offensively in a low scoring affair.
