EJ Manuel is having an extremely rough first half
The Buffalo Bills-Jacksonville Jaguars game in London streaming live on Yahoo is a technological marvel. As for play quality, though? That leaves a bit to be desired.
Late in the first quarter, the Bills were driving when quarterback EJ Manuel spotted tight end Chris Gragg wide open inside the 10-yard line. Manuel threw to Gragg, who could do nothing. Why?
Because Gragg was standing out of bounds when he caught the ball. Way, WAY out of bounds. And Manuel threw to him anyway. Responsibility for that one is debatable, but two plays later, Manuel airmailed a certain touchdown pass to Gragg.
Oh, but the woes didn’t end there. Early in the second quarter, Manuel got sacked and could only watch helplessly as the ball pinwheeled out of his hands and into the waiting arms of defensive end Chris Clemons. Six yards later, Clemons was in the end zone, and the Jaguars were up 14-3.
And then, on the Bills’ next play from scrimmage, Manuel threw an interception to Telvin Smith, who returned it 26 yards for yet another touchdown. Safe to say that Manuel will not have the fond feelings for London that many others might have.
