PGA Tour warns CIMB field of typhoid risks in Malaysia
The PGA Tour has warned players competing in next week’s CIMB Classic in Malaysia about a recent typhoid outbreak in the country, as well its continued air quality problems.
Since August, some 30 cases of typhoid have been reported, according to an email to players obtained by Golf Channel. In the email, Tour officials suggested players only drink bottled or boiled water, while avoiding raw fruits, vegetables and meats.
The message also cautioned players of poor air quality in Kuala Lumpur, in part, because of a severe drought.
The CIMB Classic, played at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, is a 78-player field whose field is primarily drawn from the 2014-15 FedEx Cup points list, with 10 players drawn from the Asian Tour. Ryan Moore is defending champion.
