Match Preview
The big Manchester derby takes place this weekend and first place in the Premier League is up for grabs. Manchester City is in first place in the league with a 2-point lead over Manchester United, as well as Arsenal.
Last season at Old Trafford United beat City 4-2.
Man City has scored the most goals in the EPL this season, but they will be without the services of David Silva or Sergio Aguero, who leads the squad in scoring. Because of this the road team may have to play a more defensive match and in their last 4 matches they have conceded 1 goal in each.
Manchester United is coming back from their Wednesday night match in Moscow so will they be fresh in this match? They may be a little tired, but they know with a win they can take over first place in the EPL.
United has scored 9 fewer goals than City on the season and while Wayne Rooney is still the main man Anthony Martial and Juan Mata are the leading scorers on the club with 3 apiece. United will be attacking at home with them needing the 3 points to secure first place. However, can they crack the City defense, which has been solid as of late and will fall back with 2 of their strikers out of commission due to injuries? Big question.
United has only kept one clean sheet in their last 4 matches. They have to happy to be back on their home pitch where they have not played since the end of last month.
Both of these squads have quality midfields and United have to create scoring chances on that side of the ball and not get dominated in that part of the field like they did in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal and the beginning of this month.
Free Soccer Pick
I look for a low scoring match in this derby, but at home United will find some magic and they will win and take the lead in the EPL in the process.
