Hello everyone! Welcome to week 10 of our Daily Fantasy Soccer column. Last week was cut short due to some personal circumstances but this week we have a full slate of info for you! The matches this weekend are interesting, and although the best ones are not on Saturday, there’s some good values in fantasy this week.
Before we get to that, let’s look at some things from last week.
- Chelsea rebounded with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa. The Blues took advantage of one of the easiest matchups in the league and took care of business. It’ll be hard to trust them this week, but they’re looking up.
- Newcastle took care of Norwich City 6-2, but it looks like more of an outlier than them improving that much. Norwich’s defense looked horrific and they’ve now conceded the most goals in the league. Berahino is playing away from home this week, but he is an option against them.
- Arsenal continue to roll, beating Watford 3-0. Arsenal are the hottest team right now, but they face a real test this weekend against Everton. It will be a tricky matchup after beating one of the best teams in Europe in midweek.
Onto the odds.
DraftKings
Unsurprisingly, Petr Cech has the highest odds at a win to nil. Despite that, I am a bit worried. Everton have quality and Arsenal have been a bit lucky in recent weeks. I am worried that they let their guard down this weekend and concede. There might still be value in Cech there if he gets 4-5 saves and a win, but it’s not as easy as it looks. Consider Butland, Guzan, and Fabianski as well.
MondoGoal
Butland is as good for an option as Cech on MondoGoal, where only the clean sheet matters in terms of bonus points. Here, John Ruddy’s price makes him an option as well, despite Norwich’s struggles. He is cheap enough to be worth a punt in GPPs in a game that could be low scoring. This game is too unpredictable, so I would ONLY advice Ruddy in GPPs and I would not use him in cash games.
Scorers
DraftKings
This is an interesting week for strikers. Alexis Sanchez is the top choice by a distance but there are reports of fatigue and that should be monitored going into the weekend. If he is benched, Costa, Vardy, and Mbokani become great options. Costa gets a fairly good matchup and is in good form right now, while Vardy is the most in-form striker in the Premier League. The sportsbook likes them all.
MondoGoal
MondoGoal has a very similar pricing on strikers this week and we see the same plays in action here as well. One very interesting aspect to me is that Saido Berahino and Romelu Lukaku are so disliked by the sports books. I think they are options in GPPs, especially since ownership will be low.
