Toronto library gets last laugh in ALCS book battle with Kansas City library
won Game 5 of the American League championship series Wednesday and made it clear they weren’t ready for their season to end just yet, Toronto’s library also took the advantage in its online battle with the Kansas City library.

We often see government officials, radio stations and other public entities getting involved in sports rivalries. But this is the first time we’ve seen something like this: The two libraries have engaged in a battle of what’s called “book spine poetry.” Basically, you put together book spines to create a new message.
The Kansas City Public Library struck first after the Royals took Game 4 and earned a 3-1 advantage in the series:
That’s pretty good, but Toronto’s response was better:
Then the Jays won Game 5 and the Toronto library shot back with a great one:
The K.C. library’s response was decent, but it felt more like three random ideas strung together. As if it were a haiku:
As it stands right now, the Royals lead the ALCS 3-2, but in the book spine battle, we give the advantage to Toronto.
