Prisco's Week 7 NFL Picks: Luck will carve up Saints, Pats sack Jets – CBSSports.com
The Ravens visiting the Cardinals looked like a huge game between Super Bowl contenders … back in Week 1. In Week 7? Talk about a dud, with the Ravens looking done at 1-5.
The best game of the week has to be the high-flying Jets and their swarming defense taking on Tom Brady and the unbeaten Patriots. The Seahawks, at 2-4, face a must-win against the rival 49ers, also 2-4, while the reeling Cowboys and Giants face off in a critical divisional matchup. Here are all of my picks for Week 7:

Seattle (2-4) at San Francisco (2-4)
Thursday, Oct. 22, 8:25 p.m. ET (CBS, NFL Network)
The Seattle defense is a mess, and 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick seemed to get it going last week against the Ravens. But that won’t matter here. The Seahawks will re-group in time to start turning around their season. That defense has too much talent. They rebound.
The Pick: Seahawks 26, 49ers 17
at |
Buffalo (3-3) at Jacksonville (1-5)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 9:30 a.m. ET (Yahoo stream)
The Jaguars have lost four straight games and seem to be reeling. The Bills have been up and down all season. Blake Bortles has put up some good numbers, but all for naught. The Bills defense will show up in this one, which will be the difference.
The Pick: Bills 24, Jaguars 18
at |
Tampa Bay (2-3) at Washington (2-4)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
The Bucs are coming off a bye, while the Redskins are home after two straight road losses. Washington isn’t a good team, but neither are the Bucs. I think Washington will find a way to get after Jameis Winston here and force a few turnovers to win the game.
The Pick: Redskins 27, Buccaneers 21
at |
Atlanta (5-1) at Tennessee (1-4)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
The Falcons will be rested for 10 days after suffering their first loss against the Saints. This is a second consecutive road game, which is tough. But the Titans will be without Marcus Mariota. That means a lot will be asked of Zach Mettenberger. He can’t keep up with Matt Ryan.
The Pick: Falcons 28, Titans 20
at |
New Orleans (2-4) at Indianapolis (3-3)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
The Colts lost last week at home to the Patriots, while the Saints won last Thursday against the Falcons. They looked much better doing so. But this game is a tough one on the road, especially for a defense that has struggled big time this season. Andrew Luck will have a big day.
The Pick: Colts 30, Saints 21
at |
Minnesota (3-2) at Detroit (1-5)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (FOX)
The Lions won for the first time last week by letting Matthew Stafford play more up-tempo. It needs to stay that way in this one. The Vikings are second in scoring defense, so it won’t be easy. But I think Stafford will hit Calvin Johnson for some big plays, and that will be the difference.
The Pick: Lions 28, Vikings 24
at |
Pittsburgh (4-2) at Kansas City (1-5)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
It looks like it will be Landry Jones for the Steelers at quarterback. He did some good things against the Cardinals. The Chiefs have major defensive issues, which should help his confidence. The Steelers have done a nice job keeping things together, and that continues here. But it’s close.
The Pick: Steelers 27, Chiefs 26
at |
Cleveland (2-4) at St. Louis (2-3)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
The Rams are coming off a bye, while the Browns are coming off a tough loss. The St. Louis defensive front is one of the best in football and will get after Josh McCown. The Rams have struggled some on offense, but the Browns are the perfect tonic.
The Pick: Rams 24, Browns 17
at |
Houston (2-4) at Miami (2-3)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
The Dolphins seemed to find some new life in interim coach Dan Campbell’s first game. The defense looked much improved. Houston is playing a second consecutive road game, which is always tough. Miami will get after Brian Hoyer. They go to 2-0 under Campbell.
The Pick: Dolphins 21, Texans 13
at |
New York Jets (4-1) at New England (5-0)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. ET (CBS)
This is the game of the week. Who can’t wait to see the Patriots offense against the Jets defense? That will be a treat. The matchup that will decide the game, though, is the Patriots defense against the Jets offense. I think New England wins that battle, and the game.
The Pick: Patriots 27, Jets 17
at |
Oakland (2-3) at San Diego (2-4)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS)
The Raiders are coming off a bye, while the Chargers are coming off a tough loss on the road at Green Bay. Philip Rivers was on fire in that game, and he will stay that way here. San Diego takes it.
The Pick: Chargers 23, Raiders 13
at |
Dallas (2-3) at New York Giants (3-3)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 4:25 p.m. ET (FOX)
The Giants looked terrible Monday night losing to the Eagles, while the Cowboys are coming off a bye. The Cowboys will turn to Matt Cassel at quarterback to try and spark the offense. I don’t think there’s much of a change. The Giants will get back to taking care of the football, and Eli Manning will win it with some big throws.
The Pick: Giants 30, Cowboys 21
at |
Philadelphia (3-3) at Carolina (5-0)
Sunday, Oct. 25, 8:30 p.m. ET (NBC)
The Eagles defense looked much better against the Giants Monday night, but now they have to go face a tough team on a short week on the road. Carolina impressed beating the Seahawks last week, and that will carry over here. Cam Newton stays hot.
The Pick: Panthers 24, Eagles 17
at |
Baltimore (1-5) at Arizona (4-2)
Monday, Oct. 26, 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN)
When the schedule came out, this looked like it might be a big game. It isn’t for the Ravens. At 1-5, they’re done. The Cardinals had a bad loss last week at Pittsburgh, but will bounce back here with a strong offensive showing against a bad defense. Carson Palmer has a big game.
The Pick: Cardinals 31, Ravens 17
Tom Brady and the Pats will be too much for the Jets. (USATSI)
