Alex Gordon left batting practice after a foul ball resulted in a bloody nose
The Kansas City Royals experienced a minor scare Thursday, as outfielder Alex Gordon had to leave batting practice after being hit in the face with a foul ball. The incident left Gordon with a bloody nose.
There’s no need to fret, Royals fans. Gordon appears to be fine.
Based on that, we would assume he’ll be available to play during Game 6 on Friday and, barring a major setback, would also be active for Game 7 if the Toronto Blue Jays pull off a win.
“Why is this news,” one might ask. Gordon got a bloody nose, but will be fine. There’s nothing significant here. Well, that’s only partially true. You see, Gordon’s injury produced one of the most badass baseball pictures we’ve ever seen.
Behold!
I mean, c’mon! That’s pretty excellent, right? That photo is up there with Nolan Ryan’s bloody lip. Ryan’s injury happened during a game, and he continued to pitch, so that’s probably better, but still …
Gordon is set to be a free-agent during the offseason, and we think the portfolio he hands out to team ought to feature this picture on the cover. Gordon is known as a hard-nosed player and an exceptional fielder. What better way to remind teams of that then with a photo of him on a baseball field with a bloody nose? “This dude will play through anything. Let’s sign him for all the money,” some executive will say.
Gordon isn’t seriously injured, and that’s a good thing. On top of that, no one can ever question his toughness again. Not when this picture is around.
