Zac Rinaldo gets game misconduct for high hit on Sean Couturier (Video)
Boston Bruins forward Zac Rinaldo knocked Philadelphia Flyers forward Sean Couturier out of their Wednesday game with a high, hard hit.
Above is the video of the Rinaldo check where he seems to catch Couturier near the jaw with a shoulder. Couturier exited the game while Rinaldo got a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct. The play happened near the end of the first period.
Last season he had 102 penalty minutes in 58 games. Rinaldo was also suspended eight games for a Kris Letang head shot that year. He had 153 penalty minutes in 67 contests the year before. He played his entire NHL career with the Flyers before he was traded to the Boston Bruins during the summer for a 2017 third-round draft pick.
The Flyers weren’t all too stressed about Rinaldo leading up to the game per CSN Philly:
“Reno? He is going to hit everybody, probably,” Wayne Simmonds said. “Nothing to worry about. We know how he plays the game. You just got to be aware. Be aware of when he is on the ice. I honestly don’t think he’ll do anything. We are all so close in here with Reno. I don’t think he would try and do something crazy. But I wouldn’t put it past him.
Leading up to Wednesday’s game, Rinaldo had 10 penalty minutes and 0 points in five games played. Couturier had three points in his three previous games.
