Wisconsin fans are still booing Tyus Jones six months later
Even though more than six months have passed since Tyus Jones ripped their hearts out in the national title game last April, Wisconsin fans made it clear the damage is still fresh.
The Kohl Center crowd booed the Minnesota Timberwolves rookie vociferously every time he touched the ball Tuesday night during an exhibition game played at Wisconsin’s home arena.
Jones logged just 12 minutes off the bench in Minnesota’s 106-88 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, scoring four fourth-quarter points on an eight-foot jumper and a pair of free throws. It was a far cry from the 23 points he scored against the Badgers in the title game, 13 of which came in the final 11 minutes when Duke rallied for a 68-63 victory.
Of course, Jones wasn’t the only Timberwolves rookie to incur the wrath of Wisconsin fans Tuesday night. Ex-Kentucky star Karl-Anthony Towns was the target of a memorable chant just over six months after the Badgers handed his Wildcats their lone loss in the national semifinals.
Well done, Wisconsin fans. Never forget.
