The Red Raiders made sure that they stuck to their winning ways this past week, taking down the Kansas Jayhawks in a 30-20 finish. However, despite the victory, Texas Tech’s offensive line was a little off-kilter when compared with several previous outings. Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes did claim 354 yards on 29-of-50 passes, but was only able to claim a single touchdown in the process. Rush-wise, Texas Tech had just 222 yards on the ground and a single touchdown, secured by DeAndre Washington. However, they’ll need to return to their high scoring ways of earlier games this season, considering how strong Oklahoma’s defence is.
Washington has claimed a total of seven touchdowns this season so far on 106 carries for 743 yards. His rushing play has been backed by Justin Stockton (42 carries for 270 yards and three touchdowns) and the aforementioned Mahomes (47 carries for 234 yards and six touchdowns). Meanwhile, Jakeem Grant has been fairly ruthless on receptions, claiming 29 for 719 yards and four touchdowns of his own, with Reginald Davis filling out the ranks with 19 caught for 358 yards and five touchdowns.
Oklahoma may have fallen at the hands of the Texas Longhorns on October 10th, providing them with their first loss of the season, but the Sooners weren’t about to let that happen twice. Last week saw them go to battle against the Kansas State Wildcats, and boy did they ever bring their a-game. The team pulled the Wildcats apart, securing themselves a 55-0 victory, proving that their previous loss had not affected them in any way. Quarterback, Baker Mayfield secured five passing touchdowns, all in the first half of the game, and he finished with 282 yards on 20-for-28. The offensive line recorded 232 rushing yards in the game, while the team’s defence unit were as solid as always.
In fact, the Sooners’ defence is arguably the best in the conference, being the only team to allow less than 1,000 total passing yards to date. And if history is anything to go by, Texas Tech could be in a bit of trouble, having lost four of the last five games they’ve played against Oklahoma. The Sooners have an altogether concise and effective team, with players such as running back, Samaje Perine (93 carries for 420 yards and three touchdowns) and Joe Mixon (48 carries for 233 yards and two touchdowns) boosting the offensive line up.

After an upset loss to Texas the Sooners responded in a big way destroying Kansas State 55-0 on the road! This week they take on the Red Raiders who played poorly last week against the Jayhawks getting a 10-point win, but not impressing as a -33 point spread favorite! Have they tailed off since putting a scare into TCU four games back or was last week’s game the perfect “look ahead” spot. We think that they’ve tailed off and that the linesmaker is just begging bettors to take Texas Tech by tossing the hook on the spread making Oklahoma more than a two touchdown favorite. We’re not going to be swayed. We believe that the Sooners will be focused here and be able to extend the lead on the visitor.
