It took six games and several think-pieces, but Sidney Crosby has his first goal and first point of the season!
The Pittsburgh Penguins captain finally broke through against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night, ending the worst opening-season slump of Sid’s career. And it was on the power play, no less, which snapped a 0-for-17 slump for the Penguins with the man-advantage.

That might have been a more baffling stat than Crosby’s opening drought, actually. Look at that talent out there. Look. At. It. Crosby scored on assists from Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang, with Chris Kunitz lurking around Roberto Luongo and Phil Kessel closing in for the rebound. Yowzer.
Crosby’s shot from the right circle at 11 minutes gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead. They outshot the Panthers 16-5 in the first period.
