Top 5 must-see plays from Week 6 in the NFL (Video)
Did you miss any of the Week 5 action in the NFL? We’ve got you covered. Here are five plays you shouldn’t miss from Sunday’s games:
Head games
Last week we saw Gary Barnidge of the Cleveland Browns use almost every body part to catch a touchdown. On Sunday, Houston Texans receiver DeAndre Hopkins used his hands and his helmet (video above) to evoke memories of David Tyree on a sideline grab. Hopkins might have some of the best hands in the game, but he used his equipment very well on this insane catch.
Steely Dansby
Peyton Manning has been very giving this season, throwing 10 interceptions in six games, and on Sunday Karlos Dansby nabbed two of them. Watch the second as Dansby, who was all over the field for the Browns in Week 6, nabs Manning’s off-target throw — that went through Ronnie Hillman’s hands — and straddles the sideline en route to a pick-6.
Still getting it done
Steve Smith Sr., 36, said he’s retiring after this season, and he missed the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 5 game with four broken bones in his back. But he has done incredible work this season, and it continued in Week 6 against the San Francisco 49ers. Although Smith couldn’t catch two would-be touchdowns, he grabbed seven passes for 137 yards and this 34-yard leaping touchdown — classic Smith — over a taller DB. One more season, Steve? Please?
Leaping Lockette
The Seattle Seahawks are in a funk, but they dialed up a clever offensive play that was finished off in style. It started out looking like a garden-variety toss sweep to Marshawn Lynch, but Lynch threw the ball back to Russell Wilson, who gunned it downfield to Ricardo Lockette. Watch the class grab of Lockette and the strength to wrestle the ball away.
Offense from defense
The Denver Broncos are struggling on offense these days, as Manning has thrown 10 picks. But the Broncos’ defense is more than making up for it in the 6-0 start, which has featured four non-offensive touchdowns. Witness the latest: Aqib Talib undercutting the throw of Browns quarterback Josh McCown and running it back for the score and an early 10-0 lead. The Broncos needed every point Sunday, winning in overtime.
