A-Rod and Pete Rose bond over fans hating them, celebrate with fist bump
When Alex Rodriguez made his debut Monday on Fox Sports’ ALCS pre-game show, he joined Pete Rose and created an analyst tag-team featuring two of the more hated players in the history of baseball. A-Rod was actually pretty good as a studio personality. Rose was his usual babbling self. But the two of them had their best moment at the end of the show, when they talked about fans disliking them.

It started with Rose recounting that fans would throw empty Jack Daniels bottles at him. Then Kevin Burkhardt asked A-Rod about getting booed and the real fun started. A-Rod laughed and said he has a “PhD in getting booed.” Nice, A-Rod, way nice. Everybody laughed, Rose agreed and he and A-Rod shared a cackling fist bump.
An underrated part of this: When Rose awkwardly goes for the early fist bump, puts it away, then comes back for it. Let’s watch the finished product again and again.
Put that everlasting image on their Hall of Shame plaques.
