Tom Brady’s dad wants Patriots to run up score on Colts over deflate-gate
Tom Brady might not speak his mind all that often, but his father certainly does.
Tom Brady Sr. and his son are incredibly close, but because the New England Patriots quarterback not only plays the game of football but also the game of politics — not saying too much to fire up his opponents, not wanting to give them any potential emotional edge — he rarely speaks out the way his father will.

On his son’s behalf or against his wishes, we don’t know.
But Brady Sr. is clear about his hopes for Sunday night’s game. He wants the Patriots to slaughter the Indianapolis Colts, the Brady ankle-biters who tossed the match on the gas can that was deflate-gate.
“The main thing I want is to see them win. As long as they have one point more than the Colts, I’m fine,” Brady Sr. told New York Daily News’ Gary Myers. “That being said, I’d like to see them put 60 points on the board, and love to see Tom throw for 500 yards and eight touchdowns. That’s me dreaming. That kind of comes from me.”
So that much is clear: A father’s hopes, not a son’s stated goal.
There’s little doubt that deflate-gate took a mental toll on Brady and, we assume, his family. And if the adage is true, parents often feel their children’s pain doubly, so factor in what the eight-month saga might have felt like for Brady Sr.
Later in the interview, Brady Sr. taps into his son by saying he hopes the Patriots score 60 every week. Which likely is true … but, yeah, right.
This one means a little more to Pops. And probably to son, too.
