Ken Rosenthal takes ice bath during Royals ALCS Game 1 celebration
FOX Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal was just doing his job after ALCS Game 1.
He’d just interviewed Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez, who had one of the game’s big hits with a solo home run. He was about to interview Edinson Volquez, the winning pitcher from Kansas City’s 5-0 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays.

And then, suddenly, he was bathing in ice.
Not a direct hit, but Rosenthal didn’t see that coming at all.
One second he’s smiling, loving his job. Then the expression changes to reflect some far less flattering thoughts.
The man behind the ice bath was Perez. We assume he was just trying to cool off his pitcher after Volquez spent the evening throwing nothing but fire at Blue Jays hitters. Just about all of that fire made it to Perez’s glove untouched, so he’ll need some of that ice for his hand. In fact, he’ll probably need some more for the back of his hand after being hit with an errant Josh Donaldson backswing.
Just another day at the office for a catcher. But a possibly new experience for Rosenthal, who somehow seems to stay dry during his postgame interviews.
He didn’t have so much luck this time around.
That change in fortune wasn’t lost on his colleagues. Here, his FOX Sports’ teammate Erin Andrews weighs in.
Yeah, they got him. But Rosenthal and his battle-tested bowtie stood tall at the end of the interview. Well, maybe tall isn’t the right word. But Rosenthal stood up straight, because he’s a pro.
