1908 is the last time the Cubs won the World Series and Charles Murphy sold the team in 1913. The Mets, with two Murphys in tow, won their first World Series in 1969. The Cubs lost the 1984 NLCS at the former home of the San Diego Padres, Jack Murphy Stadium, where they lost three straight games to drop the best of five series after winning the first two games in Chicago. Above all, the damn goat that’s been haunting the Cubs since 1945 was named Murphy.

That must be a good sign for the Mets. For the Cubs? Yeah, not so much.
