Warriors C Bogut breaks nose, will have surgery
Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut suffered a broken nose in the second quarter of Thursday’s 123-101 preseason win over the Houston Rockets.
Rockets swingman K.J. McDaniels attempted a dunk and connected with Bogut’s nose on the follow-through of the short miss.
Bogut did not return to the game, but stayed on the bench during the second half.
Bogut said he will have surgery this weekend, adding, “I can’t breathe out of my right side right now.”
“It’s the fourth time I’ve broken it,” Bogut said. “I have surgery tomorrow, afternoon I hope, or Saturday morning. But I’ll miss Saturday, probably miss Tuesday, and I’ll try to play Thursday with a mask in the final preseason game. Then I’ll be ready to go.
“It is what it is. Just more pissed off that I got called for the foul because I didn’t touch him at all. My nose hit his fist, called for a foul. This is actually the third time I’ve been called for a foul when I got my nose broken.”
Bogut finished with six points, four rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in 11 minutes of action.
The Warriors next play the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday in San Diego.
