The entire city of Toronto has lost its mind over Jose Bautista’s bat flip
Jose Bautista’s bat flip in Game 5 of the ALDS will likely go down as one of the greatest moments in Toronto Blue Jays history. Even if the Blue Jays fail to win the World Series, there was plenty to like about the moment. It came at a dramatic time, it involved the face of the franchise and it ultimately decided the game.
Because of that, Torontonians (Torontites?) have completely lost their minds over the past few days. Bautista’s bat flip was already epic, but now it’s being taken to another level.
Take, for instance, the guy who already got a tattoo commemorating the moment.
That’s probably the craziest thing we’ve seen thus far. Based on his comments, Bautista seems to agree.
Still, there’s more. You can already buy t-shirts depicting the moment.
Even the Toronto mayor got involved.
Basically, the whole city has gone bonkers over a bat flip. And, honestly, we can’t blame them. It’s been quite some time since the Blue Jays even made the playoffs. Given the gravity of that moment, and the fact that Bautista, of all people, was the one involved, we think they should embrace the hell out of it.
Enjoy yourselves, Toronto. Go nuts! You know better than most that making it this far in the postseason is absolutely a gift. You deserve to lose your mind just a little during this run.
