Murphy ties Mets record with Game 5 homer
Daniel Murphy celebrates his go-ahead homer in Game 5. (USATSI)
Daniel Murphy is having himself quite a Game 5. The Mets’ second baseman doubled home the first run on the game in the first inning. Next time up, he singled, moved to second on a walk and stole third when he caught the Dodgers‘ defense sleeping (and on a shift). He would score on a sac fly.
Third time up? Home. Run.
Murphy now has three homers in the series, two off Clayton Kershaw and one off Zack Greinke. That’s decent enough to have garnered the attention of someone who knows a little something about October homers.

Per New York Mets Stats on Twitter, Murphy is now tied for the franchise record with three homers in a series. Carlos Beltran also pulled it off in the 2006 NLCS.
