Daily Fantasy Soccer: DFS Soccer Week 9
Wednesday, October 14, 2015
Hello everyone. I hope you all enjoyed the international football break but it’s once again time for the Premier League! It’s been a good two weeks without football but unfortunately we are looking at a short article this week as I’m preparing to move tomorrow and have limited time on my hands. Fortunately for you, MondoGoal and DraftKings have been pricing their players similarly and one chart will be sufficient for this week! Let’s look at three trends from last week before we get started:
- Last week lacked clean sheets. The only clean sheet in the big Saturday slate was kept by Stoke City, who were away to Aston Villa. As you all probably know, I hate using goalkeepers away from home and Stoke City wasn’t a team I was on last week. The good news is that few people used their goalkeeper/defenders and you weren’t at a huge disadvantage by not having them. This week is a bit different, and I expect to see more clean sheets.
- Leicester City somehow continue to win. The Foxes scraped by a goal away at Norwich City despite benching their best player to date: Riyad Mahrez. Mahrez’s form has been declining and it’ll be interesting to see if he returns this week. I wouldn’t use him in fantasy even if he started, as his price is too high and the matchup isn’t great.
- Manchester City were great, but they’re now all injured. The table leaders won 6-1 last week but multiple players were injured this week and might present a bit of a trap. Be careful.
DraftKings
The sports books like Asmir Begovic this week. The Chelsea goalkeeper gets perhaps the easiest matchup possible, so I don’t hate it either, but it’s just very difficult to trust Begovic in cash games with how poorly Chelsea have played on defense. The positive here is that Branislav Ivanovic is ruled out, so at least there should be an improvement there. I’d use Begovic in cash, but probably not in 100% of my lineups.
Begovic is really cheap on MondoGoal, so there, I feel even better using him. Another guy who comes at a huge discount there is Stekelenburg, who is a decent option at home to Leicester City.
Once again, that’ll be it for the charts this week, but I’ll give you a quick rundown of the forwards that the sports books like this week.
Diego Costa – At home to Villa.
Kevin de Bruyne – midfielder playing an advanced role on a team dealing with injuries. Will be heavily owned but worth it.
Whoever starts at striker for Manchester City.
Salomon Rondon/Saido Berahino.
Theo Walcott/Alexis Sanchez.
Hope this was helpful. Good luck everyone!
