49ers: Poor late-game execution in loss to Giants
In the 49ers’ 30-27 loss to the New York Giants, they allowed nearly 200 receiving yards to tight ends and running backs. Why? Mostly because of problems in coverage by linebackers NaVorro Bowman and Michael Wilhoite.

NLDS: Kershaw, Dodgers force Game 5
Clayton Kershaw ends his five-game postseason skid with seven brilliant innings while pitching on three days’ rest and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 3-1 Tuesday night to force a deciding Game 5 on Thursday in their National League Division Series. Kershaw gives up one run and three hits. The reigning N.L. MVP and Cy Young Award winner was 1-6 with a 4.99 ERA for his postseason career entering this start.
