Point Spread: Seahawks -6.5

The Panthers stand 4-0 this season so far, defeating Tampa Bay last week in a 37-23 outcome. Tampa Bay’s players played a good game for sure, with three of their players claiming top passer, rusher and receiver. Quarterback, Cam Newton may have had fun beating out the previous four teams, but the Seattle Seahawks will provide a much stronger challenge to Carolina. Newton managed to throw for 124 yards against Tampa Bay and scored two touchdowns without an interception – not stellar results, but obviously enough to claim the win.
The Carolina Panthers offensive play has been relatively good, averaging 27 points per game and giving them a ranking of sixth. However, they’ve only managed to gain an average of 322 yards per game, ranking them in 25th position. Defence has also been in top play as Carolina have only allowed opponents to claim an average of 17.8 points, ranking them fourth, and they’ve only given up an average of 339 yards to position them in 10th.
While Seattle’s defence continues to outshine many other teams’, it was Andy Dalton who would play a stellar game last week against the Cincinnati Bengals. And despite Cincinnati making a winning comeback in the fourth quarter, Dalton still proved he’s worth the money he’s paid. The match against the Bengals ended in a 27-23 score, but Seattle more than played a great game, especially in their receptions. It’s the Seahawks’ offensive line up that needs a fire lit underneath them. Russell Wilson was sacked four times during the game against Cincinnati, and he’s suffered a total of 14 sacks over the team’s last three games.
The team’s offence is definitely in need of improvement, especially when they’re up against the unbeaten Panthers. They’re only able to say they average a total of 22.2 points per game and that they gain an average of 356 yards per game, ranking them 18th and 15th, respectively. As mentioned though, their defence is playing wonderful games of football, only allowing 19.6 points on average to opponents, ranking them ninth. Bobby Wagner has participated in 41 combined tackles, while K.J. Wright has recorded a combined total of 33.

We don’t respect either of these teams. We just don’t. Who has Carolina beat? They’ve built their 4-0 record on victories over 1-4 Houston, 1-4 New Orleans, 1-4 Jacksonville and 2-3 Tampa Bay. The 2-3 Seahawks have beat 0-5 Detroit and 2-4 Chicago who was winless at the time and without their starting QB. Really if not for their defenses and the scheduling, these two teams could both be winless. Speaking of the defense. That’s what we’re going to hang our hat on in this game. The Panther can be beat through the air, but the Seahawks have not shown that they can pass against anyone this season. Likewise for the Panthers who have surpassed 178 passing yards just once this season. Points will be difficult to come by for both clubs.
