Auburn managed to claim their third win of the 2015 regular season last week, defeating the San Jose State Spartans in a 35-21 victory. Number 25 running back, Peyton Barber pushed the team towards their win, rushing for five touchdowns, which included the decisive 36-yarder. The offence shown by the Spartans was enough to make Auburn scramble for the points a lot of the time, however, the Tigers forced four turnovers to help overcome Tyler Ervin’s 160 rushing yards and pick up the victory.
The season has been a little hit or miss for Auburn in general so far, with quarterbacks Jeremy Johnson and Sean White completing 43-of-72 and 26-of-38, respectively, combining for a total of 769 passing yards. Johnson has also claimed five passing touchdowns, while carrying 21 for 59 yards and a further two scores. Daniel Carlson has been on point with his kicking game, earning 15 extra points for his team as well as six field goals, two of which were made over 50 yards.
Kentucky has had a more positive 2015 season so far, having claimed four victories in five games. Last week saw them take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels – a match which gave the Wildcats a 34-27 win. Things were looking a little bleak for Kentucky in the final quarter, as the Wildcats were down by 14 points. However, the team rallied together, claiming two touchdowns before the end of the quarter to lead the match into overtime. It would be here that the Wildcats would claim another touchdown, thanks to Patrick Towles’ offensive gameplay.
Towles has played a stellar game in general throughout this season, completing 96 passes of 156 attempted for 1153 yards. He’s also recorded eight touchdowns in passing, and a further three in rushing statistics. Running back, Stanley Williams has carried 47 for 343 yards so far this season and completed a touchdown, while Jojo Kemp and Mikel Horton have each recorded two rushing touchdowns on 51 and 32 carries, respectively. Receptions have mostly been claimed by Garrett Johnson and Dorian Baker, who have taken 43 between them for a total of 454 yards, contributing heavily to the team total.

We think the lines-maker is putting too much weight into Kentucky’s escape against Eastern Kentucky . Sure they we’re maybe even fortunate to come out with the win against FCS opponent Eastern Kentucky, but they were ripe for a let-down in that spot. The Wildcats were coming off of a big win over Mizzou and were playing an inferior opponent at home. It didn’t help that Boom Williams missed the game with a personal issue. He’s expected back this week and will start. The Auburn Tigers won’t just fall down but you can run on this team and that’s exactly what we expect Kentucky to do. Toss the E. Kentucky game out. The Wildcats defence is strong holding Florida to a season low 14 points and Missouri to 13. We think this will be tight throughout, but we’ll side with the home team.
