Muller hints at Premier League move
The transfer window might be closed, but the rumours keep ticking. As always, Transfer Talk has the latest and greatest. See all the summer deals right here.
Muller lured by Premier League’s big pounds?
Apparently loyalty has a price, at least according to Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.
Muller has long been a target of Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United, with rumours out there that the Red Devils placed a £88 million bid for the 26-year-old forward. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted that if the offer was just about money, he would’ve likely accepted the deal but insisted that Muller holds a special place at the club.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the player has hinted that he may want to see just how much Premier League clubs are willing to spend.
“In the end, we should not forget that playing football is our job,” Muller said “People should accept that wages will always play a role in a player’s decision-making.
“Of course, the wages that are being paid in the Premier League are very tempting. It would be hypocrisy to deny that.

Muller’s long-time teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger recently made the move to Manchester and one can only imagine that the midfielder is also working on the recruit pitch. Bayern’s home-grown star Muller has scored 131 goals in 315 appearances for the team.
Rodgers to be Sherwood’s replacement at Villa?
Tim Sherwood’s heroic deeds of last season may be pushed to the side if Aston Villa continue to struggle, according to the Mirror.
Villa are currently languishing in 18th place with just four points in eight games and the outlet is reporting that the club is considering former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers as a replacement if things don’t turn around in the next two games.
In the 2014-15 campaign, Sherwood was a late-season replacement for Paul Lambert as the club was battling relegation all season. The 46-year-old helped turn things around and lead Villa to a surprising run to the FA Cup, where they lost to Arsenal.
Yet, sentiment is unlikely to help Sherwood’s case with supporters losing patience. Interestingly enough, Rodgers’ Liverpool had some struggles against Villa in the past. If you can’t beat them…
Allardyce aiming to raid former club West Ham
Sunderland are pinning their hopes of staying in the Premier League with new manager Sam Allardyce, so it isn’t surprising that he wants some of his tried and true former players to join him on Tyneside.
The Daily Star is reporting that Sunderland will give Allardyce a sizeable transfer kit and the manager wants to recruit James Tompkins from West Ham when the window opens in January.
While Tompkins just signed a new five-year deal with the Hammers, the prospect of more money awaits and his club may be willing to sell him at £10 million. However, as always, there will be competition for the centre-back as Sunderland’s rivals, Newcastle United, also want him.
