Mark Reynolds’ batting practice homer leaves Wrigley Field, smashes window
The wind was blowing out Sunday at Wrigley Field as both the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals held workouts on an off day before Game 3 of their National League Division Series.
With no game, it was perfect opportunity for players to let loose and have some fun, which is exactly what Mark Reynolds and Matt Holliday did when it was their turn to take some hacks in the batting cage.

Both St. Louis sluggers launched balls over the left field bleachers on to Waveland Avenue and Reynolds hit one just a bit further, smashing a neighbor’s second-floor window in an apartment building across the street.
David Brown, the 24-year-old resident just happened to be home and just happened to be watching batting practice, cause why wouldn’t he be? He told the paper he suffered minor cuts on one arm when the ball splintered his window, but he was a good sport about it, later posting a note for Reynolds in his window joking that he was going to tell Reynolds’ mom.
The blast was estimated to have traveled 460 feet by the neighbor in question, who didn’t even get to keep the ball as a souvenir, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Reynolds said he had no plans to pay for the window because he said it’s one of the hazards of living across the street from Wrigley. Brown suggested Reynolds might be able to get him a pair of tickets to Game 3.

Reynolds hit 13 home runs this season for the Cardinals, but he is 0-for-3 so far in the playoffs. He has two postseason homers to his credit but both came in the 2007 playoffs when he was a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
