Paul breaks finger but expected to be OK for Clips
Los Angeles Clippers All-Star point guard Chris Paul is expected to miss Sunday’s preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets after suffering a fractured left index finger in Saturday’s practice, according to an NBA.com report.
The injury is not expected to keep Paul off the court for much time beyond Sunday’s exhibition in China — the first of a back-to-back set with the Hornets.
Paul’s finger will be re-evaluated before Wednesday’s rematch with Charlotte in Shanghai.
The eight-time All-Star averaged 19.1 points, 10.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game in 2014-15 in leading the Clippers to the Western Conference semifinals, in which they lost to the Houston Rockets in seven games.
The Clippers open the regular season Oct. 28 at the Sacramento Kings.
