NHL Three Stars: Plekanec’s pair helps Condon earn first NHL win
No. 1 Star: Tomas Plekanec, Montreal Canadiens
Plekanec helped spoil the Ottawa Senators’ home opener with a pair of first period goals en route to a 3-1 victory. The multi-goal night was the 23rd of Plekanec’s career. He was also 10-for-12 in the face-off circle.
No. 2 Star: Mike Condon, Montreal Canadiens
The undrafted 25-year old netminder made 20 saves and earned his first win in his NHL debut against the Senators. He became the 571st player from the ECHL to play in the NHL.
No. 3 Star: Matt O’Connor, Ottawa Senators
The Boston University product stopped 31 shots in his NHL debut.
