Dabo Swinney is angry at people who use the word ‘Clemsoning’ (Video)

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is tired of the term “Clemsoning” and he had no trouble expressing his frustration about the word following Saturday’s 43-24 win against Georgia Tech.

According to the Urban Dictionary, “Clemsoning” is defined as: “The act of delivering an inexplicably disappointing performance, usually within the context of a college football season.”

“I’m sick of it. I don’t know why people even bring up the daggum word,” Swinney said. “How about some of these other teams out there that lose to unranked opponents all the time?

“We ain’t lost to anybody unranked since 2011, but I have to come to a press conference in 2015 and get asked that. And that’s all media bullcrap. I can tell you how [the players] feel about it, they don’t like it. It’s a lack of respect. It’s not doing your homework and attention to what reality is.”

The term became popular early in Swinney’s tenure when Clemson would lose to opponents it should have beaten or would blow winnable opportunities against ranked teams.

As Swinney points out, the term is a bit old now, but it still hasn’t stopped the phrase from surfacing most recently against Louisville in mid-September where the Tigers had to sweat out a late win against the Cardinals.

Swinney rails against the term for three minutes before calling for the next question. And really, he’s kinda didn’t have to say anything. He has the last laugh right now as the Tigers are undefeated and 2-0 in conference play.
