Best College Football Bets: Take the points with TCU at Kansas State – CBSSports.com
Each week, I will use this space to tell you what I think are a few of the best bets heading into the weekend. I will also give you an upset of the week, which will be a team that is at least a touchdown underdog that I am picking to not only cover, but win.
As always, all picks are for entertainment purposes only!
Last week, I finished 2-1 against the spread and moved further above .500 (10-8) on the season. I have done a pretty good job of jinxing my upset special picks. Kansas State became the fourth upset pick in a row to lose in excruciating fashion. This week, I’m sticking it to last week’s beneficiary, Oklahoma State.
Week 6 Picks
TCU at Kansas State (+10): The Wildcats nearly pulled off the upset last week against Oklahoma State despite having to go to their fifth-string quarterback for part of the game. TCU was extra jacked to stick it to Texas, and stick it to Texas they did. That was only the second time this season that Horned Frogs have covered, and I expect a little let down this week. Not enough for Kansas State to pull the surprise, but enough to cover a double-digit line. Pick: Kansas State (+10)

Minnesota at Purdue (+3.5): I have spent this entire season betting against the Boilermakers, and until last week, successfully so. Purdue stormed back in the second half against second-ranked Michigan State and nearly upset the Spartans. Minnesota is 3-2, with all three wins coming by exactly three points each — those are over Ohio and Kent State at home, and at Colorado State in overtime. With the Gophers offense struggling like it is, I like Purdue to cover for sure, and likely even win. Pick: Purdue (+3.5)

New Mexico State at Ole Miss (-45): It’s pretty hard to cover a 45-point line. There’s not much of a margin for error for the favorite. Since knocking off Alabama, Ole Miss has been pretty flat. It had a lackluster performance against Vanderbilt and got chomped at Florida. This is a chance to get back to clicking on all cylinders. The Aggies aren’t very good to begin with and are playing their backup quarterback. They won’t score on offense. Look for Ole Miss to run it up big. Pick: Ole Miss (-45)

Upset of the Week
Oklahoma State at West Virginia (-6.5): The Cowboys are coming off a last minute win at home against Kansas State, which kept them undefeated. West Virginia struggled at Oklahoma in a 20-point loss to the Sooners. Both teams have shown the ability to score in bunches, but the Mountaineers lost their best defender, All-American safety Karl Joseph, to a season ending injury this week. Tough opponent to face in the first game without him. Pick: Oklahoma State (+6.5)
