NHL Three Stars: Sharks open strong at LA Kings
No. 1 Star: Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks
The newly minted Sharks captain scored a power-play goal to give the Sharks the lead, assisted on Brent Burns’ second-period goal and picked up another helper on Joonas Donskoi’s third-period tally in the Sharks’ 5-1 rout of the Los Angeles Kings. Marc-Edouard Vlasic, Brent Burns and Joe Thornton had a two-point nights in Peter DeBoer’s debut as coach.
No. 2 Star: Carey Price, Montreal Canadiens
The reigning MVP and Vezina winner made 36 saves as the Canadiens ruined Mike Babcock’s debut with a 3-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. Max Pacioretty scored two goals and P.K. Subban had three assists.
No. 3 Star: Daniel Sedin, Vancouver Canucks
Daniel Sedin had a goal and two assists as the Canucks hung 44 shots and five goals on Karri Ramo in a 5-1 victory.
