Blackhawks try to sneak Gary Bettman past boos and they fail (Video)
Like throwing hats for three goals or never touching the conference title trophies, it’s a National Hockey League tradition for arena crowds to boo Gary Bettman when he’s on the ice, whether he’s deserving of the jeers or not.

Sensing this, the Chicago Blackhawks decided to take a new approach to having Gary Bettman on the ice for their banner raising celebration on Wednesday night vs. the New York Rangers. They slotted Bettman in-between introductions to their player personnel staff, hoping that the fans would simply process the name as another Chicago front office drone and not jeer him.
Alas, the listening comprehension of Blackhawks fans was greatly underestimated. Bettman was booed, lustfully, as he often is when he’s not in Winnipeg.

To his credit, Bettman took it in stride, acknowledging the cheers with a Valeri Cherish-esque handclasp, honoring the Blackhawks fans for their aversion.
Because, you see, Gary Bettman only grows stronger with your jeers.
