Ronaldo unlikely to sign for PSG – Ancelotti
Former Real Madrid and Paris Saint-German manager Carlo Ancelotti does not think that Cristiano Ronaldo will move to the French champions next season.
Ronaldo, 30, has been repeatedly linked with a move to PSG but he remained at Real this summer to become the all-time leading scorer in La Liga and level Raul’s club record of 323 goals for the club.
Ex-PSG striker Pauleta, whose scoring record was broken by Zlatan Ibrahimovic last weekend, told RMC that the French club “deserve” to have a player like Ronaldo.
However, Ancelotti, who helped Real become European champions for a record 10th time before being let go in the summer, does not foresee his former player moving.
“I don’t know,” he told Le Parisien when asked if Ronaldo would end up in the French capital next season. “Last week he created history at Real Madrid by levelling Raul’s record.
“I don’t see Cristiano Ronaldo changing club. I think he’ll finish his career at Real Madrid where everyone likes him.”
Ancelotti, 56, was reportedly a candidate to take over from Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool but on Tuesday he indicated that he was not thinking about a return to management until next season.
The Italian guided PSG to their first Ligue 1 title since 1994 before leaving for Spain in 2013 and he credits Ibrahimovic with introducing a winning mentality in Paris.
He also said he expects PSG to challenge for the Champions League this season along with Real, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
While Ancelotti admitted that he did have “problems” with PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi towards the end of his stay in Paris, the former AC Milan and Chelsea boss said he could one day return to the club.
“Why not?” he asked Le Parisien. “I have a very good memory of Paris, of PSG. I have good relations with everyone, with Nasser.
“But I’m thinking about something else and then PSG have a very good manager in Laurent Blanc. I hope he can continue and will shine in the Champions League.”
