The Wildcats have been flowing through their 2015 season, claiming victories in all five of their matches played so far. Last week saw them record a 27-0 win against Minnesota’s Golden Gophers. The match further proved that Northwestern’s defensive line up is a perfect unit, having played a key role in propelling the team to their successive victories. Clayton Thorson scored two touchdowns in the game and Justin Jackson ran for 120 yards. The defence line limited Minnesota to just 173 yards in the game, and of course, didn’t allow them to score any points.
Thorson has completed 64 of his 113 attempted passes this season so far, managing four touchdowns in the process. The aforementioned Jackson has carried 138 altogether, impressively gathering 636 yards and 62 long rushes. Dan Vitale has been on the receiving end of 15 passes and scored two touchdowns, while Christian Jones has received 14 for 157 yards. Meanwhile, Jack Mitchell has made 12 extra points, wwith 10 field goals made out of 13 attempted.
The Wolverines may have had a bad opening match, losing to Utah, but have since made up for that, managing to stop their opponents scoring any points over the past two weeks. Last week saw Michigan beat out Maryland in a 28-0 finish. Linebacker, Desmond Morgan has settled very nicely into the middle of the Wolverines’ defence line, achieving nine tackles and an interception during the game against Maryland. Their opponents were limited to just 105 yards altogether.
Michigan’s De’Veon Smith has carried 69 for 331 this season, recording four touchdowns as well. Meanwhile, Jehu Chesson has claimed two touchdowns so far, as has quarterback Jake Ruddon while rushing. A further five touchdowns have been claimed by Ruddon in passing, whilst 89 of his attempted 148 passes have been received. A total of 23 of these have been caught by Amara Darboh, who has also claimed two touchdowns, while Jake Butt has claimed 19 for 234 yards.

This is a real low total line for a college game and sometimes they go the opposite with the defense and special teams picking up points. That said, we think that both teams will have to not only claw for every point, they have to claw for every yard. Northwestern is really beat up on the offensive line and even if the starters play they’re facing a team that has back to back shut outs and has allowed a total of 14 points in their last four games! On the other side of the ball the Wildcats have faced some decent offenses allowing 35 points in their five matches and holding a good offensive team in Stanford to 6 points!
