The Ionia Sentinel-Standard weekly football contest, which involves citizens and the Sports Editor picking games each week, is in every Tuesday edition of the Sentinel-Standard.

The Sports Editor picks the teams he thinks will win and the public does the same with the help of the cut-out form in the Tuesday edition. Those who wish to participate can cut out the form on Page 4, fill it out and turn it into the office by 4 p.m. on Friday.

Each week, the overall winner can come in and select a gift certificate from any of the 15 establishments involved in the contest.

I had another good week. This time, only by six people. One person, Dan Trierweiler of Ionia beat me with a perfect score which may have never been done before. Also beating me, Les Shepard, Patti Cockrun, Dale Humphreys, Craig Henry and Spencer Trierweiler of Ionia.

Michigan’s defense shut out teams in consecutive games for the first time in 15 years, Michigan State nearly lost to Purdue and the Lions, well, they were the Lions on Monday Night Football.
