Lukaku would like to work with Wenger
The transfer window might be closed, but the rumours keep ticking. As always, Transfer Talk has the latest and greatest. See all the summer deals right here.
Lukaku reveals Wenger dream
Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has admitted that it’s his dream to play for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger someday, but first wants a chance to impress former boss Jose Mourinho.
According to a report in the Mirror, the Belgian international was asked to list the coaches he would most like to play for.
“Mourinho is one. [Pep] Guardiola and Wenger. In this order,” he reportedly told Belgian magazine Le Vif.
The Belgian international, who transferred to Everton from Chelsea for £28 million in 2014, never got a chance to show his stuff at Chelsea. Instead, he spent the majority of his three years at the club on loan spells with West Brom or Everton club before finally sealing the big money move to Merseyside.
Since, he’s helped Roberto Martinez & Co. rise to fifth in the league standings this season, but, with Thursday’s admission, he could now be open to other options.
Man United’s Muller pursuit
Manchester United wanted to sign Bayern Munich and Germany star Thomas Muller “at all costs,” the Mail is reporting.
According to super-agent Giovanni Branchini, the Red Devils were ready to pay whatever it took to bring the influential German to Old Trafford this summer. And though a deal never materialised, it wasn’t because United didn’t try, he says.
“Manchester United wanted Thomas Muller at all costs,” Branchini is quoted as saying. “I’ve spent days trying to explain Bayern Munich would never let him leave — so in the end they changed their mind.”
Robin having trouble in Turkey?
Robin van Persie hasn’t made the best start to his career at Fenerbahce. Will he be considering a move back to the Premier League in January?
ESPN FC TV’s Alexis Nunes takes a look at what has gone wrong in Turkey for the Dutch striker:
Ronaldinho not done yet
After Fluminense announced that they had terminated Ronaldinho’s contract on Monday night, questions were raised over whether the 35-year-old would hang up his boots for good.
But the former Barcelona star and two-time World Player of the Year is apparently hungry to keep on playing.
“Are you crazy? No chance, you’ll have more surprises yet,” Ronaldinho’s older brother Roberto Assis said when asked about retirement, according to the Mail.
“He has to be happy on the field and feel good about himself. He has an advantage over many others in that he has never suffered from a serious injury. And while he still has that flicker then great.”
Where will the Brazil legend end up? Sydney FC have ruled themselves out of the running, while Corinthians USA have been mentioned as a possible destination…
