Point Spread: Longhorns +15/Horned Frogs -15
Total Line: 71.5
The Longhorns haven’t really had such a good 2015 season so far. They suffered their third loss of four games last week, being beaten down by the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a 30-27 outcome. It seemed as though the game would inevitably head into overtime when kicker Ben Grogan tied the game at 27 points each with a 41-yard field goal. However, he booted a 40-yarder with six seconds left on the clock to send the Cowboys into the lead and Texas lost their fourth game in a row to Oklahoma State.
Jerrod Heard has completed 34 of his 56 attempted passes for the Longhorns this season so far, taking 613 yards in the process. Two touchdowns and two interceptions have also worked their way onto Heard’s record. Meanwhile, he’s outranked everyone else in rushing statistics as well, carrying 55 for 295 yards and another three touchdowns. Assisting with the 666 yards gained is Johnathan Gray, who has carried 38 and also claimed three touchdowns, while D’Onta Foreman has carried 26 for 99 yards.
TCU, on the other hand, have won all their first four games of the 2015 regular season in some spectacular game play. Last week saw them defeat the Texas Tech Red Raiders with a 55-52 score. Running back, Aaron Green was definitely in the right place at the right time, catching a tipped pass in the back end of the zone with 23 seconds left on the clock. The game pushed both teams to their limits, although TCU managed to outdo the Raiders by just a little in almost every quarter.
The Horned Frogs have collectively claimed 1606 passing yards over their four games so far, with Trevone Boykin completing 99 of his 153 pass attempts, whilst also claiming 14 touchdowns and three interceptions. The aforementioned Green has carried 73 for 434 yards with six touchdowns, while Josh Doctson has been on the receiving end of 35 passes for 593 yards. The team’s kicking game has been generally speaking on point as well, with Jaden Oberkrom claiming 25 extra points for TCU so far this season.

TCU were very fortunate to get the 55-52 road win last week against the Aggies as a 5-point favorite. They return home to take on a very game Texas team that with a little luck could be 3-1 on the season. The Longhorns managed just 290 yards last week against the Cowboys, but should have chances to get back on track this week against a banged up reeling Horned Frog defense. That gets us to the point spread. If TCU can contain Texas QB Heard they could run away with this, but we predict that they won’t. With what should be a tough one on the road against Kansas State next week and the more than two TD spread the backdoor chances also increase.
