The Fighting Irish claimed their fourth victory of the 2015 season last week, defeating the Massachusetts Minutemen in a 62-27 score. Despite a slow start to the game, Notre Dame punter Tyler Newsome pushed back the Minutemen while returner C.J. Sanders rallied the team to bring some solid offence to the game. The third quarter would see Massachusetts falter irrevocably, allowing the Fighting Irish to claim 20 points to their zero. C.J. Prosise rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns during the game and added a 16-yard scoring run, while freshman, Dexter Williams added a 14-yard touchdown run in the first half of the match.
Of Notre Dame’s 111 attempted passes, 73 have been successfully completed, with 44 coming from DeShone Kizer and 26 from Malik Zaire. Brandon Wimbush has added the final three, and Will Fuller has been on the receiving end of 22 for 454 yards and six touchdowns. The aforementioned Prosise has carried 74 this season so far, gaining 600 yards altogether and six touchdowns in the process, while Josh Adams has carried 23 for 199 yards and three touchdowns.
The Tigers are also running high on an undefeated streak so far, finishing off Louisville’s Cardinals with a 20-17 win in their third game of the regular 2015 season. Deshaun Watson would offer up much of Clemson’s great play, throwing two touchdown passes, while number nine running back, Wayne Gallman ran for 139 yards. The end would come in the final seconds of the game when Louisville’s starting quarterback Kyle Bolin, tried to make a pass in desperation that was promptly intercepted by Clemson’s Jadar Johnson.
Watson’s game has been altogether solid for the 2015 season, which has seen him complete 58 of his 78 attempted passes for 641 yards and seven touchdowns. Nick Schuessler has added another 10 successful passes for 102 yards, as well as a single interception to his record. Rushing-wise, Wayne Gallman has carried 53 for 310 yards so far this season, with three touchdowns also recorded, while Tyshon Dye has added another two touchdowns from seven carries for 24 yards.

Clemson has had an extra week to get ready for the ND offense that has put up 30 or more points in all four of their games this season. However, we feel that the Irish scoring numbers are inflated by the weak competition they have faced this season and they’ll be taking a big step up this week. What we do believe in though is their defense. Notre Dame’s true ranking on defense is much higher than the numbers suggest and we believe that their opener against Texas best reflects the quality of this defense.
