Southern launches fund to help WR Devon Gales
Southern University has started a fundraising effort for injured wide receiver Devon Gales.
Gales suffered a spinal injury during the team’s game at Georgia on Saturday. According to the school, Gales suffered “several” fractures in his neck and had successful surgery on Sunday. He was injured while blocking as a member of the Jaguars’ kickoff return team in the third quarter.
The fund is for Gales’ medical expenses. Georgia flew in his parents from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the school’s expense and members of the Southern staff stayed with him at an Athens hospital.
