Cards' Piscotty carted off after violent collision
On Monday night in Pittsburgh, Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty collided with teammate Peter Bourjos while pursuing a ball hit to the left-center gap. First, an update from the Cardinals:
Stephen Piscotty suffered a head contusion…is being taken to local hospital for further exams.

All test results conducted on Stephen Picotty at hospital were negative. He will be held overnight for observation

Piscotty was diving for the ball at impact and appeared to hit his face or head against Bourjos’ knee at near full speed. Bourjos almost immediately waved his arms frantically for the trainers to come out, which they did. Piscotty appeared motionless for several minutes. Eventually, he was placed in a neck brace and on a stretcher before being carted off. As he was exiting the field of play, he managed to wave to the PNC crowd, which warmly cheered him.

Piscotty had just shifted over to left field from right field in the middle of the seventh to replace Matt Holliday.

Bourjos, who made the catch, did not appear to be hurt on the play and remained in the game. Piscotty was replaced by Jon Jay.
This season, Piscotty, a 24-year-old rookie, is batting .310/.365/.502 in 252 plate appearances.
