Betting Odds
Point Spread: Ravens -3/Steelers +3
Total Line: 44.5
The Ravens’ current 0-3 standing marks the first time in team history that they’ve lost their first three games of the season. Much of the blame for this can be laid on the team’s flailing pass defence, which has seen them give up 734 passing yards and six touchdowns in two weeks. The fact that the Ravens are having to compete without Terrell Suggs, thanks to an injury, has further decreased Baltimore’s game in the pass rush. While the pieces certainly seem to have crumbled around the Ravens, one piece of good news for the team is that Pittsburgh won’t be playing Ben Roethlisberger this Thursday, thanks to a knee injury.
As mentioned, Baltimore’s defence, or lack thereof, has seen them give up a plentiful amount of yards to opposing teams, and as such, they’re currently ranked 27th overall in defence tactics. While Joe Flacco has been passing balls left and right, only 82 of his 126 attempts so far have been completed, 25 of which have been claimed by Steve Smith, who has claimed 349 yards for the team in the process.
While Pittsburgh have fared better overall, currently recording a 2-1 score, the loss of the aforementioned Roethlisberger during the Steelers’ 12-6 win over St. Louis last week will definitely dampen the team’s spirits. The quarterback is expected to be out with his injury for at least a month. This will bring Michael Vick into the fold as starting quarterback. However, despite Big Ben’s absence, the Steelers still have plentiful amounts of great players, such as Le’Veon Bell, who made his return against the Rams last week and showed little sign of deterioration after his suspension. He gained 162 yards from scrimmage with a rushing touchdown during the game.
Despite the Ravens being favoured by 5Dimes at the moment, Pittsburgh have shown strong offensive play throughout the 2015 season so far. There’s little contrast in the defence area as well, considering that they’re currently ranked sixth overall for defence and 11th in offence. And while much credit has to go to Roethlisberger for his incredible play, completing 67 of his attempted 89 passes, Deangelo Williams has carried 42 for 206 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while Anotnio Brown has been on the receiving end of 29 passes for 436 yards.

Everyone and their brother will be on the Ravens who are 0-3, but were in all three of the losses. While we do believe that may be a good play, we prefer the total in this game. Michael Vick is a drop down for sure from Big Ben, but this is a talented offense with not only the best RB – WR tandem, but possibly the best at their position period. Vick should look a lot better this week after getting a little practice time with the first unit and on paper going against an inferior defense that has given up 65 points in the last two games. Baltimore put up just 13 points on the board in their loss to Denver and 7 of that came from a pick 6 and point after, but that is a tough defense to face on the road in Week 1. Since then they have put up 33 and 24 against two defenses that may be better than what Pittsburgh will field.
