Patriots’ Jonathan Kraft takes aim at rival Ravens
New England Patriots team president Jonathan Kraft does a weekly pregame interview on the team’s flagship radio station. Usually, they’re rote affairs, with Kraft of course giving the company line on Patriots topics or NFL-related topics.
Every once in a while, though, Kraft can’t help himself. Sunday was one of those days.
When host Marc Bertrand asked Kraft about the number of winless teams through two weeks, mentioning the Baltimore Ravens, Kraft said, “It’s too bad about Baltimore, isn’t it? It’s really too bad about Baltimore.”
Kraft and Bertrand shared a laugh, and Bertrand mentioned that he believes in karma.
Tongue firmly in cheek, Kraft quipped, “Oh, that has nothing to do with it. The Ravens are sweethearts. John Harbaugh, he’s a sweetheart.”

After being fooled by the Patriots’ ineligible receiver plays in the playoffs last season – plays that were perfectly legal – Harbaugh complained after the game, with Tom Brady retorting that Harbaugh should know the rules. Fortunately for Harbaugh, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome is on the league’s competition committee, and that committee made ineligible receiver plays like the ones New England used illegal beginning this season.
Oddly enough, all three teams the Patriots faced last season in the postseason – the Ravens, Colts and Seahawks – entered Week 3 at 0-2.
