Chicago Blackhawks have names officially engraved on Stanley Cup (Photo)
The Chicago Blackhawks will raise another Stanley Cup banner next Thursday night when they host the New York Rangers in their 2015-16 season opener. The summer of celebration will have officially ended and their quest for a fourth Cup in seven years will commence that evening.
While the Blackhawks were partying with Stanley over the last three months, they’ve been doing so without seeing their names on the Cup as 2014-15 champs. On Sunday, Phil Pritchard, one of the trophy’s handlers revealed a photo of all 52 engraved names:
Couple of notes:
• No Antti Raanta. The Finnish netminder, who’s now a New York Ranger, did not appear in the Stanley Cup Final but did dress for more than half of the Blackhawks’ regular season games, as Mark Lazerus noted. He only got into 14. Scott Darling, who played five games in Round 1, is on there.
• Daniel Carcillo played 39 regular season games and none in the Stanley Cup Playoffs is on the Cup for a second time. Joakim Nordstrom played in 38 during the regular season and three in the playoffs and is forever on the Cup as well. The Blackhawks ended up petitioning to have their names added.

• After missing out on the 2013 Cup, Kris Versteeg can be pleased that the engraver got his name spelled correctly on the first try this time around.
• Who does the engraving and how long does it take? From a June Chicago Tribune article:
Louise St. Jacques is the trophy’s official engraver, only the fourth person to have that role. She takes the trophy to her studio in Montreal every September to engrave the names of the championship team and all its members. The Cup is dissembled from the top down and the bottom band removed from its base so St. Jacques can imprint the names. It takes her about 30 minutes to inscribe each name and about 10 noncontinuous hours overall.
• If you were wondering, Clint Reif’s name is not on the 2015 engraving, but he is listed under the 2010 and 2013 Blackhawks teams.
• Finally, between Scotty and Stan Bowman, their names appear on the Cup 17 (!) times, with dad earning 14 (!) rings.
