Chicago hospitality: Andrew McCutchen arrives to unkempt hotel room
Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen won’t be singing any lines from ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ this weekend.
Well, unless he decides to change the words.

When the former National League MVP arrived to the Windy City late Thursday night for his club’s important weekend series at Wrigley Field, he found his hotel room to be anything but sweet, homely or accommodating.
It was more, well, take a look for yourself.
How’s an MVP supposed to get any sleep around here?
Unkempt is that word we’re looking for. Of course, we’re sure this was a simple oversight from the hotel’s housekeeping staff. Stuff like that will happen from time to time, and this time it just so happened to be one of the most important players in MLB. Who also has a highly followed Twitter and Instragram we might add. Such an unfortunate coincidence. Or was it?
We’re 98.2 percent certain the Cubs were just having a little fun that tweet. Or maybe 98.2 percent was the Cubs playoff chances entering play Friday. It’s so difficult keeping track of this stuff.
Either way, it wouldn’t have much impact on Friday’s game. Though McCutchen was held in check, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, the Pirates went on to win the game 3-2. That extended their wild card lead over the Chicago to 4 1/2 games, while denying the Cubs a chance to clinch a playoff berth in front of the home fans.
The obvious Pirates response there being, if Chicago won’t make our beds, we’re going to be really terrible guests. Or something along those lines. We might be overthinking that, but it’s September and that’s when things really start to get crazy. Anything is possible.
