The Blue Jays are the current favorite to win the World Series

If you’re a Toronto Blue Jays fan, you’re feeling pretty good right about now. The Jays are coming off a big win Wednesday night against the second-place New York Yankees. Marcus Stroman pitched a gem, which makes their pitching rotation even better headed into the postseason. Their lead in the AL East is 3.5 and their magic number is eight.

And now this: The Blue Jays are the favorite to win the World Series, according to Bovada, an online sportsbook that assesses these odds at various points throughout the season. Following the Blue Jays are the Kansas City Royals, who were the favorites after the All-Star break. Then there’s a logjam of NL teams that have the same odds. Fans of the St. Louis Cardinals, owners have the best record in MLB, might be crying foul at that one.

Their top team? Eek, are you ready for this? The Los Angeles Angels? Yes, the same Los Angeles Angels that were swept out of the playoffs by the Royals. The eventual World Series champs, the San Francisco Giants, were at 12-1. And the AL champs, the Royals, were 16-1.

But, hey, if you’re hoping for a Pirates-Yankees World Series, then this could be good news.
