Scary collision knocks out Cincinnati QB Kiel
Cincinnati quarterback Gunner Kiel was knocked out of Thursday night’s game at Memphis in the first half after taking a vicious hit on a third down run in the first quarter.
Kiel apparently took a hit to the head at the end of this three yard run. The ruling on the field was an ejection due to a targeting penalty, but it was overturned by review.
Kiel was laid out after the hit and had to be taken off the field on a cart, but ESPN’s cameras did catch him communicating with the medical staff. Later in the game, the school announced that Kiel was under observation, awake and able to move his arms and legs.
Freshman Hayden Moore, in just his third collegiate appearance, took over for Kiel as the Bearcats’ No. 1 quarterback.
