San Diego took their first loss against Cincinnati’s Bengals last week, although the team didn’t have a bad game in any way generally. The Chargers’ quarterback, Philip Rivers became the all-time leader in touchdown passes after throwing two against Cincinnati. His passing game has been very much on point overall, with 56 of his 69 passes across the Chargers’ first two games being completed – an 81% completion rate. However, with every bit of good must come some bad, and Rivers has made untimely decisions, forcing three interceptions so far.
The team stands in 3rd position for the amount of yards they’ve gained, recorded at 418.5. Offence points of 26 give them a ranking of eighth altogether. Defence hasn’t been ultimately kind to the Chargers, and they need to sort out this side of things in order to climb the rankings. They’ve given up 345.5 yards over the course of the first two weeks of the 2015 regular season, giving them an overall ranking of 14th position.
The return of Adrian Peterson to Minnesota’s Vikings proved to be just the jump start that the team needed, claiming their first win of the season in a 26-16 victory over the Detroit Lions. Peterson rushed for 134 yards on 29 carries, his first time playing for the Vikings since December of 2013. His return – and subsequent stellar gameplay – helped quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater pass 14 of 18 successfully for 153 yards as well as score a touchdown pass to Kyle Rudolph. Bridgewater was also sacked just once during the game.
Minnesota’s offence does need to be turned up a lot more though if they want to push ahead. They’ve only claimed 299 yards, thanks to their first week disaster against San Francisco. This gives them a position of 29th (32nd for pass yards gained of 164). The defence of the Vikings has fared much better, with 18 points ranking them 6th. The team has only ceded 359 yards to opponents so far this season, giving them a position of 19th.

The Vikings beat in our opinion a poor team last week with no real running attack making their offense one dimensional. In comes the Chargers who bring a well balanced attack to TCF Bank Stadium which should cause the Vikings all kinds of problems. If San Diego can shore up their run defense that allowed 175 yards to the Bengals last week this will be an easy win for the road team.
