Hall of Famer Berra honored at Yankee Stadium
Late Tuesday night, Hall of Famer Yogi Berra passed away at the age of 90. The Yankees were on the road at the time, so Thursday night’s series opener against the White Sox (GameTracker) is their first home game at Yankee Stadium since Berra’s death.
Prior to first pitch, the Yankees honored Berra with a heartfelt tribute, which included manager Joe Girardi and the club’s catchers placing a No. 8 wreath at home plate:

Both teams lined up outside their dugouts with their caps at their chests as a video montage of Berra’s greatest moments played on the center-field scoreboard. The Bleacher Creatures included Berra in the nightly roll call of the starting lineup.
Here’s video of the pregame tribute:
Berra played for the Yankees from 1946-63 and won a record 10 World Series. He also managed the club after his playing career was over.
